FAQ

How can Occupational Therapy help parents?

As an occupational therapist, I support clients reestablish old and implement new habits and routines during major life transitions in order to better care for themselves, others, and reach their aspirations. Your new role of parenthood requires you to nourish, connect, play, and create a safe environment for your baby. Your baby is also learning what she needs to do--sleep, eat, coregulate with her parent. During this transition it is easy to put your self-care on the back burner. However, taking care of yourself is essential to help your baby soothe and grow.

I am here to support your transitions during your motherhood journey. I can educate you on how to feed your baby, show you how to play and connect with your baby, support you with time management and stress management, show you ergonomic modifications, suggest changes to your home environment, all so you can feel confident in your new role so you can take best care of your baby and yourself.

Where are services provided?

I offer services from the comfort of your home, both in person and virtually.

Do you offer a sliding scale for visit fees?

Lactation/Infant Feeding: $200 for initial visit 1.5 hour evaluation. $175 for follow up appointments 1 to 1.5 hours in length

Occupational Therapy Coaching: $175 for a 1 hour session

I do offer a sliding scale to those experiencing financial difficulties.

What are the next steps?

Call me for a complementary 10 minute conversation to see if we are a good fit. If you would like to continue to book an appointment, we will agree to a date and time over the phone.

What can I expect from an initial session?

We will review policies and paperwork (cancellation policy, confidentiality, etc), I will do a parent interview, weighted feed, oral examination of the baby. I like to provide a lot of education and talk you through positioning yourself for breastfeeding so you can feel confident latching a baby without me there. If you want support with pumping, I recommend scheduling a second session for a flange fit.

An initial coaching session begins similarly with a review of policies and paperwork. I will spend time learning about you, what your passions are, and what is most meaningful to you.  I will ask you about your current habits and routines and what changes you would like to make. We will come up with goals together to work towards in our following sessions.

Do you take insurance?

In the near future. I am currently working with TLN to accept eligible insurance plans for lactation visit. Stay tuned!

Do you work weekends?

Yes, I am happy to schedule a home visit or telehealth appoinment on Saturday or Sunday.
